Well we know paleo is a great way to lose weight, but it’s just a byproduct of eating a healthy, ancestral diet. There are so many other benefits and this article will share some of them with you.

 

More Energy and Better Sleep!

Yes that’s right! Without all those ups and downs from sugar all day you will have a more sustained energy all day. Better yet, at the end of the night, you will be tired. It’s a good tired though. The one lets you fall asleep quickly and stay asleep! This is something you’ll start to notice within a few days and it’s huge!

Sustained Weight Loss

Like we talked about before you will lose weight, and you won’t have to go hungry. The nice thing is that it’s a sustained, stable weight loss and it sort of just stops when you get to the weight your body should be. It’s really body fat that’s disappearing so your body will just look more naturally fit. If you’re doing any kind of muscle building exercise while you’re losing that body fat you will be building a nice, natural, lean muscle mass. Calisthenics is a great way to do this. Moderate weight lifting is another option. If you want to get huge and jacked, you can do that after you lose the body fat and you’ll be doing a modified version of this diet, where you eat A LOT of food, but if you want a natural, defined, lean muscle look, that will come with this diet and some push-ups and pull ups. If you work out hard, but don’t go heavy with the weights the best way to describe the way you could look is a modern day MMA fighter. Ladies, you can look lean and defined and feminine, while us guys can look defined and masculine. Why? We’re eating the food our bodies are designed to eat.

Lower risk of Health Problems

You will have a lower risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Of course we know this diet is anti-inflammatory so obviously it lowers the risk of heart disease. There’s almost no carbs involved so insulin resistance and diabetes are much less likely to take hold. Hold on, you said cancer! That’s right. Cancer loves sugar, and the rates and types of cancer we get as humans didn’t start to skyrocket until the agricultural revolution. If you’re not feeding cancer the sugar it wants, than it’s way less likely to grow or start. This is just another great side benefit of this diet. Honestly it’s why I started and kept up with it

Increased Immune Function

What a great time to start the paleo diet. Everyone is afraid of this Covid-19 Corona virus at the time of this writing. In a few years there will be something else to fear. It happens every few years. In between those times there’s the flu and colds that drive us nuts! I used to get one major cold or flu every year and get a few minor colds throughout each year, pretty much every time the seasons changed. When I started the paleo diet I didn’t get a cold for 3 years, honestly. That next year, the fourth year, I decided to cut loose during the holiday season. I ate all the junk. All of it. All the cookies, candy, cake, bread, beer and anything else I could find. After about a week of that nonsense, I had a nasty cold. That’s when I knew this claim of increased immune function was true. I’ll still cheat from time to time nowadays, but I’ve never gone crazy like that and I’ve stayed relatively healthy because of it.

 

Allergies!

Do you have seasonal allergies? Living on Claritin all spring and summer? I was in the same boat. This is one of my favorite benefits and something not a lot of people talk about. That’s because they’re not allergy sufferers. Us allergy people know the misery though, so when I tell you that my allergies were cut at least in half you should listen. I couldn’t believe it. I haven’t felt the need to take an allergy pill in 8ish years. Seriously. I still have allergies but it’s more like a hint of an allergy for a few minutes, when 10 years ago it would have been a full-blown throat that wouldn’t stop itching, itchy watering eyes, and explosionary pressure in my sinuses. This has been the ultimate relief and is one of the major reasons I still eat an anti=inflammatory diet. If this website just helps a few people with allergies, I’m happy!

The Best Reason – Sex

Who doesn’t love sex? Want more of it? Does your partner want more of it? I’m not talking about losing weight and looking better which makes it easier to find. I’m talking about that libido. They don’t call it the caveman diet for nothing. You can ask anyone who’s been on Paleo for a little while. Your sex drive will put the 19-year old you to shame. Let’s just say you will want more, you will better at it, and you won’t have to wait as long in between sessions. That all sounds like guy stuff, but it’s true for women too. Be careful though, there is strong anecdotal evidence that it’s more likely for women to get pregnant when they eat a paleo diet. Who knows if this is because of increased frequency or fertility or anything else, but at paleo centric cross fit gyms you’ll hear lots of stories of unplanned little miracles running around.

Just a Few

These are just a few of the benefits you’ll experience on the paleo diet. There are so many more but these stood out to me the most at the beginning of my journey. Keep a journal if you try this, and keep track of the changes you experience. The bottom line is, you’ll just feel better overall, and that’s the key to a long happy life.
